Building Work: Shippon Tea Rooms, Lask Edge, Staffordshire
Transforming an old stone ‘Shippon’(cow shed) into cosy tea rooms.
The Shippon was the starting point of this project. Its foot print and original building materials are incorporated into the new tea rooms. The new gable end was built in stone, in recognition of the materials used when the Shippon was built which are visible on the opposite gable. The roof was stripped back, revealing beautiful wooden beams that remain on show as part of the vaulted ceiling inside. Time was taken with our partners in the brick industry to match the old bricks to new ones.
